Sorcellerie culinaire Culinary Sorcery Georges Méliès 1904 France A kitchen of chefs is tormented by three mischievous imps. Essentially, a chase comedy filmed entirely from the same angle. It has a more elaborate set design, and there is an expansion or development of space within the set: characters are not confined to the "stagefloor" here, but instead are free to move up the stairs, come to the forefront of the action or go into the "back" of the kitchen with the maids, half obscured by cauldrons. The usual jump-cuts allow the imps to disappear and come back again, and the various ways of escaping the wrath of the head chef are inventive and exciting.
