The Kiss in the TunnelJames Bamforth 1899 UK A remake of Smith's The Kiss in the Tunnel.
It might not be a remake, actually; it could well be the original (it was made in the same year as Smith's), but probably isn't, because it is superior. Or at least more elaborate, less crude, there's evidence of schema plus variation at work here, and it's fascinating to watch with the context of an imaginary network of filmmakers fuelling one another's work and seeing what could be done and how it could be varied.
