Repas de bébé Baby's Meal Louis Lumière 1895 France Louis' brother Augustin feeds his baby his dinner. Audiences were attracted to the reality of the smaller detail in this: the slight movement of the leaves in the background as they are caught by a breeze. Interestingly, today as viewers who have been brought up on this visual medium, we overlook the significance of such background movement, watch the baby being fed, and complain that the event captured, the information we are receiving, is boring. In 1895, it was fascinating and fantastic to be receiving such visual overload.
