Koza Cocoon Nuri Bilge Ceylan 1995 Turkey A succession of black-and-white images are edited together; three people's dreams interweave. Frightening stuff, this: not in the images, whose self-contained beauty is notable enough, but in the dream or nightmarish way they are connected together. There is little plot that evolves or reveals itself, at least not on a first viewing, but the imagery, of flames, and an old man in a field, are elusive and memorable. It opens with portrait photographs Ceylan took himself and unfolds with the same kind of haunting logic of a Quay Brothers short.
