Marzieh Makhmalbaf (1969- )Yet another member of the Makhmalbaf clan, Mohsen's wife and the step-mother of Samira and Hana. She was also the writer of Hana's latest film and the assistant director on Samira's first two, as well as shooting Mohsen's simplistic and manipulative 2002 documentary about education for females in Afghanistan, The Afghan Alphabet. Both these films are well worth seeing and although the latter is a little too contrived, a lot of the images created in war-torn Kabul are truly astonishing. 1. The Day I Became a Woman (2000) 7/102. Stray Dogs (2004) 6/103. The Man Who Came With the Snow (2009) 5/10
