1. Pandora's Box (1929) *****I'm glad to see you think he's made something even better. I saw this earlier this year with an original score performed live by 3epkano, and it was probably the best cinema experience I've ever had.

Not that many do think it's better, i was blown away by the attention to detail and smooth careful camera movements in some of the scenes, it's almost like i was watching a film made 40 or 50 years afterwards at some points. Pabst and Murnau were the inventors of modern European cinema in my eyes, more influential on art films than anyone else in the first 30 years of cinema, directors who were ahead in the silent era of most stuff made in the first 10 or 20 years of talkies. I find it amazing just how overlooked this guy is.....Murnau gets some kudos (although not enough as he's top 5 all time for me), but aside from the old film buffs must see Pandora, Pabst is neglected.
