Michael Glawogger(1959 - )The film at the top is one of the most impressive doco's i've ever seen, probably THE most impressive visually. I know KO's seen it also and i'm sure we both recommend it highly. 1. Workingman's Death (2005) 8.5/102. Kill Daddy Goodnight (2009) 6/103. Slumming (2006) 5/104. Megacities (1998) 5/10

The film at the top is one of the most impressive doco's i've ever seen, probably THE most impressive visually. I know KO's seen it also and i'm sure we both recommend it highly. 1. Workingman's Death (2005) 8.5/10It's not just the most visually impressive documentary I've ever seen, but it's one of the most visually stunning films I've ever laid my eyes on. Ever. And it's not the places and people that are filmed that catch the eye. Without cinematographic manipulation, the settings are wondrous, though. It's the use of the camera, film, and lighting that's impressive. It's the lighting especially in the Ukrainian section. It's the film processing; the color palette throughout especially the Ukrainian, Indonesian, and Pakistani sections. It's the framing, camera setups, and composition of the images. Masterful. I'd use that word to describe the editing, too, particularly the Pakistani and Indonesian sections. Moreover, all that filmmaking helps us viscerally experience the plight of the forgotten workingmen throughout the world. Amazing. Go see this film, guys. Seriously. On DVD, please. If you're lucky enough to catch a film print, do that, obviously. Trailer and other goodies at the film's official site.
