Mikhail Kalatozov (1903 - 1973)Visually, these films are a contender for the most jaw-dropping ever made (especially the third one on the list), the Russians really know how to push out all the stops. Would just be nice if there was a little more substance and a little less melodrama, but i would recommend any serious cinephile check them out. 1. The Cranes Are Flying (1957) 8/102. I Am Cuba (1964) 7/103. The Letter That Was Never Sent (1959) 6/10

Some of the craziness they created to shoot in The Letter Never Sent is well worth seeing on the big screen QC!
I'd love to see Happiness too, why no DVD for that yet?
