I have a mountain of 2007 titles to get through.
On my computer I have Breath, Lust, Caution, It's a Free World, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, Juno, Michael Clayton, Ploy, Planet Terror, The King of Kong, Alexandra, A Mighty Heart, The Banishment and Gone Baby Gone (which, bizarrely, isn't coming out until June here... what's with that?).
I also have Don't Touch the Axe and Katyn downloaded, but haven't been able to find subtitles for them.
I'll be seeing There Will Be Blood, My Blueberry Nights, Silent Light, Mister Lonely and Funny Games over the next week.
Ehhh, what else...
I have Syndromes and a Century, Hana, Scoop, Sisters, The Abandoned and Once downloaded for the retrospective 2006 award.
I think we should be trying to do this a little earlier than last year.

can we add specific movies to 2007 even if the IMDb date is 2006? Vote on those titles maybe?
I don't know where Inland Empire was before, but I couldnt see it until like August of 07. A lot of us are Lynch fans, so I think it would be good to have that one in. I would like to also include Smokin Aces (so it can be worst movie) and 300.

Inland Empire was eligible last year.
I know it's far from an ideal system, but I'm against departing from IMDb's dates, we've tried it more than once and it's never worked.

Carice van Houten's magnificent performance in Black Book gets lost in limbo b/c no one here saw it (I assume; also if I remember correctly) in '06 and for those who saw it in '07 can't nominate her b/c it's an '06 IMDb-dated movie.
Man, I forgot how the nominations went down last year. How many nominations in each category were members allowed to post? Was it just name your top pick or your top 5 in preferred order?

I could've seen Black Book in time for last year's nominations, it was out in January. I think I was just feeling lazy and let it pass me by.
You make a maximum of five nominations in each category, and all carry the same weight.

Addendum:
If we weigh the nominees equally, TWBB (6 votes) loses out to, say (I'm just saying!), Michael Clayton (7 votes). Here, Michael Clayton wins Best Pic.
However, if we scored them like the Yearly Top Tens (adjusting from 10 pts to 5 pts), TWBB could have been scored in those 6 votes as 5, 5, 3, 4, 4, and 5 (26 points) while Michael Clayton gets 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 1, and 1 (15 points). Here, TWBB wins Best Pic.

We all nominate up to five in public, Kino; then the top five with the most nominations go up for a second vote. These second votes are done via PM to the mods, and you only vote for one each.

I'd like to see the first two Bourne films before seeing Ultimatum. They're easily found on stream sites, though. I wanna see Control asap; and see Once on the big screen March 6th.
wetdog, did you find You, the Living on eMule? If so, what was the file called, or what did you search for? I've only opened that program twice and each time I get confused by the sources complete thingy.

Run a video search for you the living, and you'll see a 697.78 Mb file, with plenty of sources, called Du.levande-You.The.Living.2007.DVDSCR.XViD-ARTHOUSE.avi.

Thanks for clearing the voting process up, now it's coming back to me. However, even for that first wave of nominees/nominations, I still think we should score them just to safeguard. Just for fun and for your consideration: My tentative Best Actress nominees: 1. Anamaria Marinca ( 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days) 2. Marion Cotillard ( La Vie en Rose) 3. Laura Linney ( The Savages) 4. Tang Wei ( Lust, Caution) *See Carice van Houten in a similar role in Black Book* 5. Ellen Page ( Juno) **Julie Christie ( Away From Her) and Marketa Irglova ( Once) would rank 3rd and 5th respectively if the movies were eligible** **I thought Ashley Judd in Bug was pretty impressive** Tentative Best Supporting Actress 1. Kelly Macdonald ( No Country For Old Men) 2. Amy Ryan ( Gone Baby Gone) *She plays Beadie in The Wire * 3. Tilda Swinton ( Michael Clayton) 4. Cate Blanchett ( I'm Not There) 5. Marisa Tomei ( Before the Devil Knows You're Dead) Tentative Best Actor 1. Daniel Day-Lewis ( TWBB) *Set in stone* 2. Mathieu Amalric ( Diving Bell and the Butterfly) 3. Viggo Mortensen ( Eastern Promises) 4. George Clooney ( Michael Clayton) 5. Tommy Lee Jones ( In the Valley of Elah) **Gordon Pinsent ( Away From Her) and Thomas Turgoose (This Is England) would've ranked 3 and 2 respectively had they been eligible** Tentative Best Supporting Actor 1. Paul Dano ( TWBB) 2. Casey Affleck ( AOJJBTCRF) 3. Javier Bardem ( NCFOM) 4. Hal Holbrook ( Into the Wild) 5. Mark Ruffalo ( Zodiac) **Michael Shannon had a pretty good year w/ Before the Devil Knows You're Dead and Bug**

If Crash is the one film I hate more than any other, would In the Valley of Elah be worth subjecting myself to just for Jones and Deakins? I dislike Crash, but it depends what your nominees are presently for Best Actor and Best Cinematography. Like, if you got a good 5 for each, seeing Elah isn't pressing. I tend to give more props to cinematography indoors rather than outdoors. Elah is a pretty good movie until Haggis totally fucks it up in the end so bad that TLJ and Deakins are the only good things about the movie.

Yeah, well I certainly won't be seeing it anytime soon... I meant at all. Paul Haggis is on my shitlist.
And I knew this'd come up: I see no reason why Casey Affleck's performance shouldn't be considered a lead.
I could go either way on Ruffalo.

I'd consider Gyllenhaal, Ruffalo and Downey the leads in Zodiac. With the likes of Koteas, Edwards, Baker Hall, Sevigny, Lynch, Cox and my main man Fleischer providing the supporting turns.
Sam Rockwell is a supporting actor in Jesse James, but Affleck and Pitt are the leads.
And I agree on No Country.

Yeah, I agree on Zodiac, but also the reason why I put Affleck, Bardem, and Ruffalo in supporting is because I want them to win something! I think Daniel Day-Lewis is gonna go away w/ FCM's Best Actor award and rightfully so.
The problem is that in a supporting role I love Dano's performance the most! So I'm certainly not helping Affleck getting recognition for his superb work, but I'm sure if others put Affleck in supporting it's gonna be b/w him and Bardem.
I put Bardem in supporting for the same reasons.
How many leads in I'm Not There?

Shamefully forgot Laura Vasiliu.

Well, I'd treat I'm Not There the same way we treated A Prairie Home Companion last year: every character (and actor) is supporting.
This is, I think, the most difficult year we've had so far in FCM history. Affleck would be my choice for Best Supporting - if he is eligible for it. Until I saw There Will Be Blood last night, I would have said his was the performance of the year period. As Best Lead, Day-Lewis might be ahead of him in my book. Maybe.
I'd say Laura Vasiliu is a supporting actress, Kino. Her character is the one with the most daunting ordeal, sure, but in terms of character emphasis and screentime, I'd say she's supporting.

Screentime doesn't mean much to me in determining lead roles. TLJ is the lead among the 3 leads in NCFOM in how I see the film. He has less screentime I think than both Bardem and Brolin (I could be wrong on Brolin). Brando is a lead in The Godfather as is Pacino. IMO, there's as much emphasis on Vasiliu's character as Marinca's. Anyway, I agree, very difficult year.
