Ocean's Eleven Ocean's Twelve I'm dying to see Traffic. As for Ocean's Twelve, it killed the joy left at the end of the first film. A quarter way into the film, I lost complete interest in the plot.

Updated.
Solaris turned out to be a fascinating experiment which, at ninety minutes, could have perhaps been longer. It never races by, but it could have easily merited further exploration of its central relationship. I admire Soderbergh for having always wanted to make the film in terms of a literary adaptation, not necessarily a cinematic remake. Tellingly, on first glance, the DVD's extras have absolutely no sign whatsoever of Tarkovsky's 1972 effort.

Updated with Bubble. From watching the masterpiece that is "Traffic", it's hard to believe he's not made much to match it's greatness. Definitely see Bubble, The Limey, and Solaris. If you consider Traffic a masterpiece, these are all directed similarly to some extent. See if you feel different once you see those. In my opinion, he's one of the best working today.

1. Traffic (2000) 2. The Limey (1999) 3. sex, lies and videotape (1989) 4. Out of Sight (1998) 5. Ocean's Eleven (2001) Talented, but I wish he'd stop wasting it and his time of these stupid casino films. But then again if by taking the $ and using it to fund smaller and more ambitious projects is what he's doing, then it is forgivable.

Soderbergh To Direct Back-to-Back Che Biopics
Ocean's Eleven director Steven Soderbergh is set to shoot two back-to-back films about Latin American revolutionary Ernesto 'Che' Guevara. Soderbergh and Benicio Del Toro, who will play Guevara, have been working on the movies since they made Traffic together in 2000. The films will also likely star Javier Bardem, Franka Potente and Benjamin Bratt, who are currently in talks for key roles. Both films pick up after the formative Guevara years captured in Walter Salles' film The Motorcycle Diaries. The first movie, The Argentine, begins as Guevara and a band of Cuban exiles - led by Fidel Castro - reach the Cuban shore from Mexico in 1956. The second film, Guerilla, begins with Guevara's trip to New York City, where he spoke at the United Nations in 1964 and was celebrated in society circles. He then disappeared into the jungles of South America. When he tired to use Bolivia as the catalyst for more revolution, he was captured and executed. The movies will be shot back-to-back beginning next May in Mexico and South America.

I feel like maybe you discussed this elsewhere but I can't find it Wetdog.
What'd you think of The Good German? I kind of forgot it got some technical nods for tonight, just rewatched the preview, and was wondering what went wrong really.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with it. It won't knock your socks off, but it's a completely engaging contemporary 'post-war noir'. There's an interesting conceptual contrast between watching an old and a new film.

Seyfried, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on Soderbergh...
