I would like to see Paris, Texas, though I'm not very motivated now.
An interesting note is that it was one of Kurt Cobain's two or three favorite films in an interview I read.

Interesting fact there. I'd love to see Cobain's full list, along with other musicians.
Vercetti, do you have Comcast digital cable? If so, it's on channel 167 tomorrow at 11 AM and 9 PM.

Enjoy "Paris, Texas". I look forward to your opinion.
I do recall reading that Cobain considered it one of his favorites. In fact, I think you told me that Vercetti. What were his other two favorites?

I too was intending on revisiting Paris, Texas. Some of its early imagery still haunts me; and I heard Cooder's score recently, and it sent shivers down my spine.

Wings of Desire is as good, or better. You should check it out.

I will.
I still cannot stop thinking about Paris, Texas. I did not expect to witness such brilliance and power. The final scenes are just mindblowing.
I might just watch it again later tonight.

Wings of Desire is as good, or better. You should check it out. Upon a first viewing, I felt "Wings of Desire" was a much inferior film to "Paris, Texas", but in retrospect, I might like it more. I need to rewatch "Paris, Texas"... soon.

I can't get that guitar out of my head. Such a haunting score. Reminds me of Dead Man.

1. Der Himmel über Berlin Wings of Desire (1987) 2. Im Lauf der Zeit (1976) 3. Paris, Texas (1984) 4. Don't Come Knocking (2005) 5. Der Amerikanische Freund The American Friend (1977) 6. Tokyo-Ga (1985) 7. Buena Vista Social Club (1999) 8. Aufzeichnungen zu Kleidern und Städten (1989) 9. Lightning Over Water w/ Nicholas Ray (1980) Along with Chris Marker, Theo Angelopoulos and a few others he is the most criminally underrepresented director on DVD. His seventies work is crying out for release.

As is Fassbinder's. Perhaps more so.

I think it's interesting that (from what I gather on this thread), the German title of "Wings of Desire" is "The Sky Above Berlin". I know this happens sometimes, a film with a different title in two different countries, but I just thought of these questions on this particular film. Oh, and I really loved Wings of Desire. Actually, I own it, and would love to revisit it soon.
My questions:
1. What title do you all like better - German or English? 2. Who really decides that - the producers or can that be a director's call? What about this particular film?

This is the cover of a new Region 2 release. Checking on IMDB it looks as though it's the shortest cut of the film (158 minutes) which is disappointing, though I'm not sure which cut Wenders himself prefers. I'm still excited about this release but it will be hard watching it without thinking about what's missing. Anyone else looking forward to this?

Someone on IMDb posted that Wenders will be directing the third film in a trilogy about Sicily, the first two directed respectively by Pasquale Scimeca and, perhaps surprisingly, Michelangelo Antonioni.
