I'm probably one of the few people who has never seen Braveheart aside the final scene. The Passion of the Christ The Man Without a Face His next film is supposedly Apocalypto, about the Spanish taking over Mexico/Central America. It's in Mayan, following in the footsteps of Passion.

Yeah, there's some footage viewable here. Could be pretty good. I certainly respect his choice to shoot these films in archaic languages.

Saw the trailer for Apocalypto last night when seeing Memoirs of a Geisha. In terms of plot, nothing given away; more of a visual teaser than anything else. Like an extended scene from King Kong, really, with the Skull Island natives doing their tribal thing.

So there's no dialogue in the trailer, then? They don't want to scare people off, they don't have a built-in surefire market for this one.

Well, of course, the multiplexes now have to have clear indication of subtitles in films.
A lecturer of a film class I attend (though am not right now) told us how, when he went to see Hero, the guy behind the desk warned him, a little embrassed, about it being subtitled. Needless to say, the lecturer replied, "Well, I would hope so, too."

Yeah. I'm not actually sure if it's a legal requirement, but most do, since they're asking to be sewed if they don't. It's sad, really.

...together? It is sad, but some people really have a huge hangup about subtitled films. It's 'work', and absolutely no effort will be made on the audience-member's part, they switch off to be swept away and there's not even an understanding that there might be other ways to approach cinema. It's like Homer's brain said, " You can stay, but I'm getting out of here." Cinema started out 110 years ago as a novelty sideshow, now it's no longer a novelty, and no less a sideshow.

Oscar really scraped the barrel with this one. And it's been close to rock bottom often enough.
He has an ego problem, couldn't handle being smaller than British film critic Barry Norman, possibly some psychological problems, strange near-Fascist religious leanings, wallows in gore + violence, (when Jesus' message was one of love, peace, forgiveness), seems to enjoy a sado-masochistic edge, takes a broad distorting swipe at history- turned into crude propaganda with pretensions of grandeur-, has very limited talents as both actor and director and yet is a major player, having managed to trade on his once wholesome looks.
