Errol Morris (1948- )Gates of Heaven Vernon, Florida The Thin Blue Line Fast, Cheap & Out of Control Mr. Death The Fog of War People that like Herzog documentaries should definitely look into this man's work. Idiosyncratic documentarist that covers fascinating subjects. Does un-documentary-like things in The Thin Blue Line. I'd recommend starting with Gates of Heaven then moving on to The Thin Blue Line. The Thin Blue Line has remarkable ability to make the viewer an investigator. It also delves into the issue of perception and truth. Then I'd move to The Fog of War to see Morris move away from the personal expressive documentary towards a more of a traditional cinema verite. Intelligent filmmaking.

This is what I wrote about Thin Blue Line soon after I watched it. LinkNow I don't remember the movie at all. Funny that I used the word impact in my review.

One of the greatest American directors currently working. Although his latest two have been a slight step back in my opinion.
1. Vernon, Florida (1982) 9/10 2. The Thin Blue Line (1988) 8/10 3. Mr. Death (1999) 8/10 4. Gates of Heaven (1978) 8/10 5. The Fog of War (2003) 6/10 6. Standard Operating Procedure (2008) 6/10
