24. What movie would you most like to see in the theater? The New World in its extended cut, or Days of Heaven, if it were in pristine condition. 25.What is the best movie to watch with a girl that you can tolerate and even enjoy?Shoah? (I watched The Brown Bunny with my girlfriend a few weeks ago.) Seriously, though: The Sopranos. 26.What movie do you most want to see that you just haven't been able to find anywhere?I don't know. Most are accessible to me, though it remains a question of affordability. Plus, I don't currently have a multi-region DVD player. 27.What movie would you repeatedly be forced to watch over and over in hell?New York Stories. Or, from the sound of it, Warhol's Empire. 28.What movie is terrible but still nearly brings tears to your eyes during the climax?I'm not sure if I've cried at any terrible ones, but there's a lot of mediocrity that I can happily go along with. The four violinists re-assembling to that death-begets-all-aboard montage in Titanic got me the last time I saw it.

I mean you're attracted to a girl but she's not a huge film buff like yourself and you want to show her a film that you like and you're pretty damn sure she'll like or else it could be the end of the fling.
No arsty 3 hour silent films.

Interesting. I mean a lot of Chris Marker and Jacques Rivette's films aren't available for instance and there's a ton of American avant garde stuff that's generally impossible to see unless you live in San Fran or NY or something.

No, I thought the same but went along with it on the grounds that the tolerating and the enjoying was of the film, not the girl. 29. What was the first movie that got you interested in cinema? The French Connection, I suppose. Though I must have had some interest, now forgotten, to record it from TV in the first place. 30. What is your favorite book about movies?I don't know. I'd probably say the annual Time Out film guides; it's by far my most well-thumbed, especially since ditching Halliwell's a few years ago. The last one I read in full was this, which reprinted too many hyperbolic appraisals of the film; the best essay is a critique. I'd like a more politically conscious film book to read. 31. Name the most boring movie you ever sat through:I think the last time I was bored at a film I was almost asleep; which says a lot more about me at the time than it does about the film.

I took it as "what inherently inferior, thoughtless movie that only inferior, thoughtless women could possibly like that you would pretend to like just so you could touch her boobs afterward?"
And it's an obvious You've Got Mail.

32. Favorite 007 movie? Probably FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE
33. Favorite Bond actor? Connery, but at this rate if he makes more CASINO ROYALE than QUANTUM OF SOLACE, Craig can very easily take over the throne.

35. Great Actor with stalled/never-realized career that you just understand why? William Forsythe
36. The greatest event/story for cinema in this decade? Netflix

38. Last 30 years, the best of the "Best Picture" Oscar winners? Maybe NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, though SILENCE OF THE LAMBS is great entertainment.
