I was surprised to not find a thread already about HBO's two season epic Rome.
Has anyone else seen it?
I thought it was so well done, with such detailed production. One thing Shakespeare did with Julius Caesar was make his central figures ambigious on the love or hate scale. I think Rome takes that model and runs with it. Some you do end up loving (Octavian and Vorenus and Pullo, for me) but their flaws are so visible that they sometimes frustrate you.

(I think you still haven't answered my question I asked long ago if you've seen The Wire I liked it and I need to revisit the entire thing with those informational subtitles feature. There's a gang of stuff I don't know and I'm sure it'll make me appreciate what the series did a whole lot more. Kind of wish that they just stuck with purely historical figures and events, but it's real good as is. Have you been keeping up with Lost?

I've seen the first season of The Wire and it gripped me. But I have put off the other seasons, though they sit on my shelf because I want to watch them with limited breaks in between, and right now that's not happening. Soon, though!
Lost -- I abandoned after the second season. It just got too weird. Reading about it now (people coming back to life), I'm glad I did stop. I loved John Locke's character, but he was becoming too superstitious and otherworldly for me to hang on to (the button they had to push drove me crazy).
