I couldnt think of hardly ANY good female performaces in films I saw. Really lackluster for the most part. I liked Scarlett in Match Point and a few of the Crash actress, but overall it was a pretty weak year

updated my list. I'm glad I went to some more films this week, and I still have some time before 19 february (I can even see Brokeback Mountain before that)

which reminds me to say, a 7-day voting period for the final awards ought to be enough. you won't get more voters by letting open the voting longer, not without extensive advertising which never happened before.
so moving the nominations deadline up 1 week up to 26 february gives everyone more room to see eligible films. if I recall we discussed such a thing last year, but I'm not sure. it won't harm the proces.

Yeah, good point. The only I was thinking about was tie-breakers. Looking at the votes so far, there's going to be many.

I think I'm seeing two more films before posting my final nominations: Walk the Line tomorrow, and Grizzly Man, next week.

I'm furious. The New World was taken off the mainstream theater, and now the better theater.
I'll be seeing Munich Tuesday.

I'm furious. The New World was taken off the mainstream theater, and now the better theater. It played for two weeks at my multiplex. I saw it on the opening weekend, and counted less than ten people in the theatre with me. Such a shame.

I'm having real difficulty limiting my nominations to five for Best Male Performance, Best Cinematography and Best Original Screenplay.
I encourage everybody to catch, before next Sunday, Good Night, and Good Luck., The New World, Walk the Line and Caché if they can. Not only for the awards, but, as ever, I'd love to share second opinions. Grizzly Man will be fit in next Saturday, I think, for me. Syriana and Capote must wait until after the awards.

I'll be seeing Good Night and Good Luck on Friday, I think. Maybe Capote, too, if it plays locally. Then Lady Vengeance on Sunday, and maybe Caché if it's still playing, and then the 'Surprise Film' at the end of the festival that evening.

I was wondering how you'd caught Syriana so soon; you've missed Dark Horse?

An extra week, folks, for making votes. Sunday 26th is the deadline. wise decision, though I won't be able to see Syriana nor Capote still, but I have seen Brokeback Mountain - just for the sake of having seen what I'm supposed to vote about! I do wish more people would simply post their considerations.

Well, I havent the chance to catch Grizzly Man for free next week, so I won't pass up that opportunity. Just means I can't vote for it in the nominations (assuming it would have been good enough anyway, which I doubt it would have been). So I'll post my nominations later tonight, after a few final thoughts.

No. I'm seeing Lady Vengeance and the surprise film tomorrow.
I don't know when I'll see Capote now. Next weekend at the earliest, maybe the weekend after - when I'll be seeing Manderlay and The Hills Have Eyes.
