Take the Money and Run Woody Allen 1968 USA An idiot turns to a life of unsuccessful thievery. The director's first, a hectic mockumentary in continuous exposition, like the protagonist himself, who can't really get ahead in life because of his own stupidity. Visual gag piled atop of visual gag, it is the kind of slapstick which probably gets better the more times you watch it - but it's hardly rewarding on a consistent level, and not nearly as funny as his work hereafter.
