Don't get your hopes up yet. Push comes to shove, I probably give the film a 7 out of 10. And few things were more beautifully shot last year than its two infamous death sequences. And on any given moment, I probably wouldn't object to watching it again; it was wickedly enjoyable in many parts. Just not a "fan", or to the extent of which some people are.

Well, you liked it never the less....which really is all that matters.

I remain the only human being I know who hated it.
One day I'll find another...one day...

I found it ridiculously bland, uninvolving, and convoluted. I also thought it paid waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much attention to the details of the case. I honestly can't think of a single aspect of the film I liked. When I found out that people actually liked it I was shocked.

Sorry to be a douche, but why you hate it so much? Did Jake Gyllenhaal steal your girlfriend? Actually, I do believe Gyllenhaal is currently dating Reese Witherspoon, the girl of my dreams. But anyways... What movie had you wanted instead? An Ashley Judd serial killer picture?

We disagree on some things DVC, and I respect ya man....but don't use IMDB to help your cause. That website is a zoo for the stupidity and moronic that the internet can offer in film opinions. I mean, dig for a few minutes, and you'll find John Birch Society folks who swear on their mother's graves that Dubya is a Muslim spy.

I wanted a movie that didn't completely suck my BALLS. But if the movie only half-way sucked your balls, (suckling?), would that have been alright?

If we're picking sides in some all-out apocalyptic battle, maybe. ;D I had some problems, yes, but in the same sense, it reaches few highs (no matter how ephemeral and few they were) that only a handful of films last year - a weak one, IMHO - touched upon. I haven't read much of DVC's thoughts, nor have I seen the film within 9 months, so perhaps he's picked up on a few irks that I missed out out on. Oh, well.
And for the record, I couldn't stand Jake Gyllenhaal. And no, I have literally no attraction to Reese Witherspoon.

I thought Zodiac was great. Any movie based on actual events that can keep suspense, even though you know what the outcome is going to be, is pretty good in my book. I give it 8/10.

In light of your last viewing, wetdog, and the fact it's now a 10/10 for you, have you cleared your thoughts up anymore on the basement scene? Ignore me and I shall cut off your tongue so you have no choice but to ignore me.

When I first saw "Zodiac", parts of the score reminded me of "The Conversation", and the wonderful piano score. I went as far as to think that Fincher purposely wanted to allude to that film's score due to similarities in plotline, setting, etc.
Not until watching "The Conversation" again a couple of weeks ago did I finally discover that it's composer, David Shire, ALSO composed "Zodiac". Another reason to love this film.

I find it ridiculous that I still have to defend this film all of the time. I come across too many "cinema lovers" and general movie goers who aren't that affected by "Zodiac", some going out of their way to say it is awful. I know this happens with many people and many different films, but this shit bothers me lately. I need to rewatch it. I can't remember the last time I've watched it all the way through, meaning I've put it on numerous times, and then was asked later by others to turn it off.
