Luchino Visconti (1906-1976)La Terra Trema The Earth Trembles (1947) Rocco e i suoi fratelli Rocco and His Brothers (1960) Il Gattopardo The Leopard (1963) Morte a Venezia Death in Venice (1971) Another director sadly unrepresented on DVD. Ludwig and The Innocent are in most need of a release. I also had no idea he filmed a version of Camus' L'Etranger/The Stranger, the last book I read.

"The Damned" was probably the worst film by an 'acclaimed' director that I have ever seen. It was sooooo challenging to sit through two hours and thirty-seven minutes of badly filmed theater.
