Grandma's Reading Glass G. A. Smith 1900 UK A small boy looks through his grandmother's magnifier at various objects. If our generation has been seduced by and spoiled with projected spectacle in the cinema, a place for social gathering and regular meeting places during adolescence, then we have come to take such spectacle for granted. Imagine the impact of the close-ups this film offers of an unsuspecting cat and then an eye. Back then, it probably offered the novelty of, say, kids first looking at insects under a powerful microscope in a science lab today.
