I think that's the first time I've heard him say something harsher than "baloney".

I was planning on going back to uni on the 13th April. But my local arthouse in Gateshead is getting Inland Empire that weekend. I can't wait to see it again. Hopefully, it'll be on film, too. (When I saw it in Cambridge it was a DVD.)

^^Just got a brochure for the same local arthouse. They've got The Straight Story playing on Sunday, and Eraserhead in May. I have to make the train journey back up from uni! I have to. Watching Twin Peaks season two at the moment, by the way, and have just been completely blown away by the eighth episode, directed by Lynch, in which BOB strikes again. With the white horse, the slow-motion, the screams, Julee Cruise's voice, the giant, and just general fantastic-ness. It's one of the most powerful things Lynch has done, I think. Goodness, what a fucking episode. Was pretty cool to hear the giant say, "It is happening again... it is happening... again", [cut to an LP on loop] which I recognised as a sample from the third transmission at the end of DJ Shadow's Endtroducing...

Txt from a film-loving friend of mine:
"Saw inland empire yesterday and thought it was a bit of a dud. Lynch only intermittently had any hold on the scenes and his music selections were naff. Oh well."

Off topic, but I love coming on here and seeing the latest post form 'Pherdy'. It brings back old memories. I'm glad you've returned.

Capo, you and even good old Mike Sulivan have made it to this board. did thug came along to? we were the real founders of the previous board and all came from the Godfather message board, where JLG (don't know if this was a reference to Godard) inspired us to move to proboards.

Thug mysteriously left the old board without explanation. I contacted him through AOL, and he said that his schedule was very busy and that he didn't have the time to invest himself in the site or in film as much as he had before.

one more off-topic note, to Omar: where are all your top-ten lists prior to 1990?

I woke up in my room t'other night needing the toilet. I had to piss in the sink because I was certain that had I gone into the silent empty corridor, I would have been followed by Laura Dern running with a deranged smile in slow-motion.
Or Bob.

What? I need to watch that again. Is it a filming of the film being shown, or is that the film?

It is the film, I'm pretty sure.

Yeah, it was supposed to be a part of To Each His Own Cinema but it wasn't ready on time.
It's an excellent short.

From www.davisdvd.com/news/dvd.html : David Lynch's upcoming two-disc DVD of Inland Empire will include a feature called "More Things That Happened (Additional Character Experiences)." What is that exactly, you ask? Hows about over 90 minutes of deleted footage that will be edited together into a mini-feature!

Actually, on second thought, that could be disastrous. Still for now.
