La Dolce Vita 8½ La Strada I'll have to rewatch the first two to judge which is better. Though La Strada isn't the masterpiece the other two are, one thing I'll never forget is the final shot. Perfect.

i've been too kind. Here's one guy who needs knocking down to size, the weak link in the axis, with Kurosawa and Bergman, that's so dominated American views of world cinema for decades now. No denying his visual imagination (8 1/2 certainly is a masterpiece, clever use of music, it really does soar, and what lighting!) but he strikes me as shallow, egotistical, self-indulgent, too stuck in his own clown cliche, seemingly with a callous, exploitative streak and with less to say than meets the eye.
Yes Fellini is my fall guy.

1. 8 1/2 (1963) Assuming you're using these stars in the same way I am: What made you change your mind on that?

I rewatched it and loved it. I was exhausted when I saw it the first time, so I guess that's probably why I thought it was a bit heavy.
The film has one of the greatest final scenes ever. It gave me chills.

I can't even remember its ending; though the opening shots gave me chills.
