Despite premise, which vaguely echoes it, how much does The Game resemble House of Games? I remember not liking The Game; an interesting idea bogged down by overlength and, surprisingly, a plot that becomes too outrageous for its concept.
I'd like to revisit it though.
I bought Mamet's film yesterday.

I saw Zodiac on the big screen today. I am honestly blown away by how terrible it was.

4 stars?! Holy christ man. What did you like about it? Can you not read my proview man? I love you though, man. I have always loved that Unsolved Mysteries style with Robert Stack, you know? Mabye I am biased. But, it reminded me of "All the President's Men". I can't wait to see it again. How about that taxi muder? The way Fincher constructed that shot was great. Maybe I am biased. Or drunk? Damn, can you blame me for starting my spring break early? This is what you get for having a board runned by college age students. What did you not like about the movie?

It was a 3-hour film filled with pointless, redundant scenes of dialogue hammering out the details of a case that was never solved, and has no effect on my life or anybody else's. It started out okay, but after the first half hour or so, it was unwatchable.
It was an epic waste of time and money.

A rewatch of Se7en stands in the way of a definitive top two for this guy. I really, really, really must watch The Game again, as well as Fight Club, not to mention Panic Room.

I rewatched The Game a few weeks ago. It's even better than I remembered. I think it's fantastic, but, to defer to the Campion thread, I take it as a parable, so your memory of "a plot that becomes too outrageous for its concept" may well hold true, because on a literal level it very much does. It depends how you choose to interpret it.
Zodiac is a masterpiece. I would've happily sat through it all over again straight away.

How do you know my review of that film word for word? I don't remember posting it. Anyway, there are loads of films that I would have hated, say, two or three years ago, but now I'd rather like them. And I can't really hate The Game if I love The Magus.
