I've wanted to see The World for quite some time now. I've been told it explores the artificialness of human interaction in today's society that drives me to the brink of insanity.

Wetdog, you got Platform up next sometime?
I think it's better than The World and Still Life. Plus, stylistically, it has the 90s Hou Hsiao-hsien long shot composition aesthetic. There're moments of humor, too.

It was shot on celluloid, too, if I'm not mistaken.

I wish I could make it to the BFI Southbank's run of this guy's work. 2- 27 Feb, but my finances are all a bit messy due to some unexpected all-night drinking sessions.

Still can't get The World out of my head and it's been over a year since I've seen it. I can't even imagine seeing it on the big screen.

Very very impressive on the big screen! I've been lucky enough to see all of Jia's films in a theatre.

Very very impressive on the big screen! I've been lucky enough to see all of Jia's films in a theatre. The way those buildings loom over the characters just terrifies me, on the big screen I don't know if I could handle it. Reminds me a bit of Written on the Wind, the way the oil towers oppress. It seems silly but I feel as though it's the most dreamlike film I've ever seen.

In The World i love the animation especially, perfect way of depicting the communicatively strange and surreal world that text messaging has given us!

You must have better dreams than me.
Completely agree about the animations adding a whole new level to the film.
