I felt the urge to make a thread after catching all but the opening credits of Lock Up last night on TV. That film happens to be the first I ever called a personal favourite (used to watch it at least twice a month), but I had forgotten all about it. A fast-paced action slash prison escape film, lead by an on-form Stallone and unnervingly cold Donald Sutherland; boasts a host of underrated talent, too: Tom Sizemore (never less than impressive), Frank McRae (who starred with Stallone in the grossly underrated Paradise Alley), John Amos, Larry Romano (surprised I've not seen this guy elsewhere). I still love the film; it seems to be a succession of one great scene after another - a silly plot easily forgiven.
I can't remember much of The Outfit other than it being an underrated Robert Duvall vehicle that I enjoyed very much; I've still got it back home - a re-watch due soon.

The trailer for Lock Up! (EDIT: Haha, it was nominated for three awards, according to IMDb. All of them were Razzies. )

The Outfit Out For Justice (nostalgic reasons) Capo, I don't remember if you've seen Boorman's Point Blank. The Outfit is its sequel. Point Blank is a great art cinema film noir. Been dying to see Rolling Thunder which has quite the reputation.

26.What movie do you most want to see that you just haven't been able to find anywhere? Also two highly-regarded 70s crime pictures THE OUTFIT (with Robert Duvall) and ROLLING THUNDER (scripted by Paul Schrader) None of those fuckers are on DVD. Rolling Thunder was on Netflix Instant Watch for at least 6 months.

Yeah.
Was.
EDIT - At least I got to see FOURTH PROTOCOL before it got yanked, another DVD that Netflix doesn't have for some reason.

No. I've had Netflix since last summer, but I only got my (terrific) laptop in March/April, when I could take advantage of that Instant service. No way I'm spending big bucks for a little box to transmit shit to my TV.
Still, I got to see alot of good stuff none the less so far because of Instant. Like John Frankenheimer's (terrible) DEAD BANG, another reviewing of WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT, caught up on tons of old school DOCTOR WHO, also some AMAZING STORIES episodes I had missed (which I briefly reviewed here), and those documentaries CRUMB and GONZO.
so yeah, I guess I missed ROLLING THUNDER. When was that Kino? Knowing my luck, it'll just a few months ago, just below my nose.

I watched it once then and my second and last time was in January '09. I seem to remember it being available for a while after I last watched it. Don't know if it was still up as far as up until March/April, though. Will be back to share my thoughts on Out For Justice.
