That probably sounds funny coming from me, but I'm definitely training myself to pay attention to cinematography Not at all! I've also heard the colors in the film are very flamboyant and bizarre.

3. Apt Pupil (1998) 14. The Changeling (1980) 30. The Devil's Backbone (2001) 37. Funny Games (1997) 67. The Ninth Gate (1999) 69. Open Your Eyes (1997) 84. Session 9 (2001) 88. Stir of Echoes (1999) 98. The Vanishing (1988)
I don't remember much of some, but others of these (especially The Vanishing) are pretty good.

That's true, a lot of bright red, green and blue lights shining on actors from some unknown source through most of the movie.

Browsing around Youtube last night, I discovered two Mario Bava films. "Black Sabbath", probably his breakout horror film, and "Planet of the Vampires", which I watched most of, and found it to be genuinely creepy, great atmosphere, and cool (albeit cheap) production. The film is said to have been a huge influence on "Alien". Both films can be found in their entirety on Youtube.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions. I added Black Sabbath to my NetFlix queue but Planet of the Vampires isn't available on there. I may have to watch it on YouTube, although I hate watching movies that way.
