Watched this one today, and didn't dislike it nearly as much as I thought I might. A couple years ago, I gave Oliver Stone's World Trade Center my Worst Film vote on this site. Like with World Trade Center, it really doesn't pull any of the punches one would expect a typical Oliver Stone movie. You really dont get any idea what Stone was trying to say...
The direction and writing do not really offer anything interesting. Song choices throughout the movie were distracting. Thandie Newton gives one of the absolutely worst performances I have ever seen.
On the positive side this movie has a lot of genuinely fun performances. Josh Brolin does a great job in the lead. James Cromwell, Richard Dreyfuss, and Jeffery Wright all do a solid job with the roles of HW, Cheaney, and Powell respectively.
Anyways, it isnt good, but youll enjoy some of the actors, and I liked it better than Stone's other efforts this decade.

most actors did resemble their real life counterparts, including Thandie Newton. but I was really impressed with Josh Brolin. It's nice and all he got an Oscar nomination for Milk, but I think his comic interpretation of President Bush was a much better achievement. I'd almost give him my FCM Best Actor nomination.
I pretty much agree with your other comments about this film. It was quite enjoyable, and considerably mild towards the Bush administration, rather making it into a dream filled with Oedipal motifs. but not really memorable like some of Stone's classics.

Josh Brolin is just getting better and better. I can't believe this guy's transformation. 5 years ago, i couldn't give a rat's ass if he was to be in a movie or not. Nowdays, i can't wait for his next movie appearence. He is, in fact, one of the top best american actors of today. It seems that for some people, life truly starts at 40. And all the better for he and us the audience.
Josh Brolin's emergence and Robert Downey Jr comeback are two of the best news to any self-respecting movie fan.
