The film has distribution troubles, but a NY public television station is streaming it in full on their website before it airs on the tv station in March.

Thanks for the link, I watched it, in spite of my internet giving me unimaginable misery. This part of the epic Ramayana is an interesting one and I like the use of that part to inter cut with a modern story. The modern story is only tangentially explored, we never know how Sita's condition applies to this story. I liked the interpretation of love in the form of Sita singing jazz, that is really novel and also alludes to the fact that these emotions are universal and timeless. I did not like the exposition in the form of 3 people talking about the story. Ramayana being this large epic, is tough for people to follow without being familiar with it. However with the mocking approach taken by the three narrators, the whole grandness of the theme is undermined. They could have done it with very little voice over dialogue, maybe with more text or something. Besides, though it doesn't bother me, being an atheist, I am sure the film would be quite offensive to a devout Hindu.

I nominated this for Artistic Achievement for the difficulty of its production. The film as a whole? I certainly don't think it's as great as lots of people are saying. I'd say it's average at best as a whole. I nominated it for screenplay because I really liked the three shadow puppets not much else, though.

I nominated this for Artistic Achievement for the difficulty of its production. I am ignorant when it comes to technology used in animation, but what was the difficulty? It looked like simple 2D animation to me... I may be totally mistaken though

Paley did all of the animation herself which took 3 years except for the time she had an apprentice which was for about only 5 or 6 weeks. She didn't have a team of animators working for her like some do. She also painted by hand many of the Indian paintings in the film.
Another reason why I voted for her was the mix of animation styles and processes/programs.
