Nice to see someone else taking the plunge with Brakhage, been thinking about that one for months, just not sure if ratings of 1 minute abstract painted film pieces are fair.....i will get a list up soon though.

Yeah I know what you mean. Most of his work is elusive and virtually defies analysis, which is one reason why I find him fascinating.

I've only seen Mothlight.
Agree with the above sentiments. I'm unschooled in this sort of stuff.

Can't distinguish between most of them to rate them but I've only seen the 28 on the criterion disc. Hopefully more of his stuff will become available. I will say that Window Water Baby Moving is as good as any film I've seen and half the films I come up with in my head are inspired by it.
Additionally his audio commentaries and interviews are much more insightful and wise than any director I can think of. It's not the usual elitist or vague crap.
EVERYONE needs to check him out.
