it boggles the mind to me that with the money superhero movies make there isnt always a current production of the most famous one in progress.
it also boggles the mind, that outside of the second one, none of them have been good....given that they have 70 years of material to work with.
Superman likes lois lane and fights physcially imposing bad guy with lex luthor pulling the strings. It isnt a hard formula. i dont need a 150 minute Bryan Singer epic. 90 minutes, lots of action. Thats it.

You're right jrod, though how can you like the second one but not #1? But yeah the rest can kiss my ass. My QUEST FOR PEACE and RETURNS reviews can atest to that. At least we have the cartoon by Tim Daly/Bruce Timm (same creeps behind BATMAN TAS), now those guys knew how to tell a fucking captivating Superman story, and go beyond friggin Luthor.

...but an immortal alien who decides to wear red underpants on the outside of blue pyjamas (with a red cape) is not lame?

well, his physical abilities and his interstellar jumpsuit are a constant throughout every movie, so they dont bring any movie up or down in lameness with relation to the other.
duh

So the lameness is diluted with time?
What if time travel became a constant, if it was an integral part of the Superman universe?
Would said lameness dissipate with time, or increase (because the world was spinning the wrong way)?
UGH! Tricky!!

the turn the world backwards to time travel thing was really lame. And a kiss causing amnesia isn't?

You know what my problem with that whole time-travel thing was? Not the time travel or the logical physical problems with it thats already been dissected by you jrod and anyone who might feel smarter and better by roughing up a 31 year old film that is supposedly "below" them.
My problem is this: Jor El over and over proclaimed that his son CAN NOT VIOLATE this one goddamn rule, no matter what. This mortal God has limits, and he must respect them. He defies him and this rule....but there is no consequences. If Supes could do that and him or world not suffer the downer, then this rule is useless and silly in the first place, no?
And the kiss-causing-amnesia is just stupid not necessarily because of the action itself, but it's obviously a hack's cheap way of negating the whole sequel's love development and retard it back to status quo for future sequels.

Eh, I was never really big on Superman. He lacks too many of the humanizing elements that make for an interesting superhero. Even his name is bland. They may have just as well called him "American Man."

Weird how the guy created to beat up the Nazis was a blonde hair, blue eyed guy.
Captain Aryan to the rescue!
