PickpocketRobert Bresson 1959Only slightly better than L'Argent, familiar long silences, punctuated so infrequently by the suddenly grandiose and tragic orchestral theme that it feels horribly out of place. I've read that Bresson's characters are perhaps unemotional intentionally, but it boggles my mind why. Like L'Argent, terribly clumsy filmmaking and ultimately boring.

I'm not sure what your mean by "terribly clumsy filmmaking". From what I remember Bresson is a director whose films seem very much how they were intended.

There were just a lot of visible errors, like actual, glaring, errors, things like actors being cued to speak their dialogue or do whatever they were supposed to be doing a second or two after the shot starts, improperly paced conversations, things like that.
