Let's be realistic; as far as this issue goes, you're probably the minority within this community. In this particular situation, you are the rebel, and I'd find it hard to believe that not even a portion of that could be contributed to some sort of subconscious queue. Otherwise, there would really be no incentive to post this last post; it's all feeding into the innate desire that I think most people have to rebel. Being in the minority or majority is irrelevant, but I can see why it matters to some folks. But the "king of porn on vhs"? Come on, that's an insult at those true 80s porn producers, like Vivid or whatever. They hustled alot of tits, pussy, and dick to actually deserve that title. And besides, with your argumentation, where does that leave poor Michael Bay? Is he the king of 1990s gay bondage porno DVD then? But enough of that bullshit. Let's put it this way... Spielberg is like anonymous sex. It's instant gratification. It's exciting and pleasurable, even a little fun, but there is still a sort of void or emptiness that follows it directly. I've never walked out of a Spielberg film with anything I didn't already have before hand. Maybe I enjoyed myself when I was in the theater, but in the end it was just another way to kill a night. It's like, "what was the point?" So you're saying that.....you don't like to fuck? I'm confused. Yes your fucking analogy is accurate I guess, except sex is sex. People love both your described instant gratification, and that relationship angle. But again, sex is sex. To dismiss one set of stimuli from another begs the question: What's the point? Remember Kael's book? "I lost it at the Movies." What exactly did she "lose"?

I really want to see this though. I have a theory that Spielberg could actually make a decent movie if you removed the budget and effects that he always abuses to all hell. On a non sexual note, I hope you get to see this eventually. I would love to hear your thoughts on the movie.

And besides, with your argumentation, where does that leave poor Michael Bay? Is he the king of 1990s gay bondage porno DVD then? Since when was pornography a highly esteemed career path? No disrespect to those who choose to go that way, but come on. Just come on. I guess porn is, in itself, a form of instant gratification. But my logic was, what's so prestigious about being the "king of Hollywood," or Hollywood in itself? When was the last time Hollywood made an abundance of genuinely good pictures? A couple generations ago? There are some great contemporary movies coming out of Hollywood, but they're too few and far apart to really take pride in being the "King" of them. It's people like Spielberg that killed the Hollywood prestige. Sex is not just sex. Try having sex with a stranger and someone who you are madly in love with and feel entirely comfortable with. There is a huge difference. If I wanted to feel empty and unsatisfied after sex, I would just masturbate; but what's the point when you could wake up the next morning next to someone who makes you giddy every time you look them in the eye? I think that's how I feel about Spielberg. His films are pleasurable while they're happening, but as soon as it's over, you're just overwhelmed with indifference.
