The Piano Jane Campion 1993 Australia 1st viewing, 2 sittings A mute Englishwoman along with her young daughter, and her prized piano, are sent to 1850s New Zealand for an arranged marriage to a wealthy landowner, and she's soon lusted after by a local worker on the plantation[/i][/size] Oscar-winning performance from Holly Hunter, in a film in which she literally doesn't speak a single word on screen. Campion's direction is suprisingly unconventional and subsequently captivating considering the fact that taken at face value, this is ultimately a simple female-empowerment romantic drama. The morose bluish hues utilized by cinematographer Stuart Dryburgh were the real star. Worth a watch.
