As some of you may know, my purchasing, borrowing and recording from TV rate sometimes far outweighs my watching rate. I think the oldest film I have (in terms of not having watched it, not the actual oldest film) is Lawrence of Arabia, dating back to Christmas 2003.
Now, I'd like to watch more new movies this year, and try and get through this mountain of sometimes forgotten, sometimes daunting films.
What I propose is that we all make a list (spend a couple of hours and it's easily done) of the films we own, in some form or another, and haven't seen yet. Then we can set up a sort of swap club, whereby we "challenge" a member to watch one of the films on their list, and in return are requested of a watch of one of their own films.
For instance, say, I have Spider on my list, and Wet Dog, being a Cronenberg fan, wants to hear my opinion on it, asks me to watch it. I then take a look at his list, and ask him to watch a film I'm intrigued by.
That's only one possible reason for choosing the films. Yours may be completely different. Some people may even want to choose their own films, and offer them in return for another (like, say, I tell Omar to watch "this" film if I watch Boogie Nights).
One thing to consider: don't take a load of films on at once. Think of this as a library loan, if you like, where, since they have due-back dates, you can't, for practical reasons, loan more than you can watch at a time.

If you want to find a certain title on any list, press Ctrl + F on your keyboard to bring the Find option up. Preceding definite and indefinite articles on titles should be ignored. It may also be useful to search for specific directors.

fuck, you guys HAVE all those movies? as in, in your current posession? I sort of wanted to do something like this. On Netflix when you are friends with people you can view their current Queue and see all of their ratings on a 5 star system (I have about 1000 movies rated). I proposed that everyone using Netflix become Netflix friends on the last site, so we can see what films each other are viewing, but no one responded

Jrod, yeah, I own all of these movies. I think I own Dead Ringers, but it has gone missing, and I can't find it. Frustrating, since I'm usually super-organised with this kind of stuff. Never mind.
ANd I'm not on Netflix, sorry.

I'm on a system now where I am trying to watch/rewatch every film in my collection. I am currently at "Brazil". As well as that, I am trying to balance Netflix which I put as a top priority above my own collection. And also, I like to see at least one film at the cinema on the weekend. So, needless to say, my film watching schedule is very very tight. Nearly all my time for films is on the weekends, which is also very busy. I barely had time to watch the 90+ minute 'Aguirre' the other day. So much for watching "Fitzcarraldo" today. Or this week for that matter.

Im putting Last Days on top of my Netflix list. Figure its worth seeing, especially since the guy blew his brains out about 10 miles from my house

Actually, it's not a Cobain movie, it's simply inspired by it. Oddly VH1 still doesn't know that. As for Cobain himself, he didn't blow his brains out, as the media and Seattle police bullshit, though I'm probably getting irrelevant here.

Get back to me with possible requests of your own...

Jake; hold back from watching the Tarr movies, because I've just ordered them from Amazon, and would like it if we watched them over the same weekend or something.

No problem. I'd like to leave a gap between watching them both, so it could be Damnation one weekend and Werckmeister Harmonies a few weeks or a month later. I don't like overdosing on one director as it can lesser your appreciation and love for their style and work. I will set you the mission of watching Nashville soon.

I don't live overdosing on one director... Ah, I'm the other way round; I like to go through directorial phases, so to speak. It also helps to decide what film to watch next. Often I get to bed and am simply spoilt for choice, as my mood is usually open to anything. I'll request a viewing of They Live By Night, then, which I also have to watch.
