I must say, I'm having much (expected) difficulty combining costume and makeup. I'd vote Hunger for the latter, but not the former; likewise with Benjamin Button.

I've seen JCVD....it's interesting and mostly pretty amusing, but it doesn't have enough ideas to fill 90 minutes well and the cinematography is quite bizarre....just about worth watching still though.

I'm having a last minute dilemma on Ralph Fiennes in In Bruges and the Gomorra. In the first instance, I'd say Fiennes is Supporting; in the second, I count several interconnecting narrative threads in the narrative, each following one or two characters that are the "lead" in that narrative thread... but are those "leads" leads in the film, or are they just all supporting characters/actors? It helps my case if both of these examples are supporting.

This is my first year to "attend" the FCM's and I'm finding this all very exciting, though I haven't seen any of this yr's nominations.

Gomorrah is the English title, yeah. I just tend to type the most common.

The actual title is JVCD, not "Jean-Claude Van Damme". Van Damme stars in it as himself. It sounds very intriguing.

It helps my case if both of these examples are supporting. I'd say they are. the "real" award-shows usually tend to treat ensemble pieces as if they are without leads. think of Matt Dillon's nomination for Crash (which indeed did not have a real lead), Kevin Spacey for The Usual Suspects (where he clearly was the lead). I think that's also why Heath Ledger was treated as supporting: The Dark Knight had either four leads or it was an ensemble piece, but in the case of four you can't really call it leading anymore, I think. Gomorra clearly didn't have any leads, in my opinion. In Bruges focused on two characters the entire movie, with only a minor part for Fiennes. his part may have been essential, sure, but not leading. Javier Bardem in Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a bit problematic, I'll admit. he is neither the titular character nor just a supporting one, so I understand how this can go either way.
